Explore Bioclimatic Architecture: My Journey to Building without AC

septembre 27, 2024

Bioclimatic architecture is about designing spaces that harmonize with their environment. By optimizing the building’s orientation, choosing the right materials, and utilizing natural ventilation, we can reduce the need for mechanical cooling systems.

It was a great opportunity to discuss with @ladinaschoepf – an ETH architect and founder of LS Projects, about my approach to designing buildings that function without the need for air conditioning. These conversations, available here on Spotify and YouTube, dive into the world of bioclimatic architecture—a sustainable method that uses natural resources and climate-responsive design to keep buildings cool, efficient, and comfortable., dive into the world of bioclimatic architecture—a sustainable method that uses natural resources and climate-responsive design to keep buildings cool, efficient, and comfortable.

In the interview, I share real-world examples from my architectural projects, showing how thoughtful design choices like shading systems, thermal mass, and cross-ventilation can create comfortable interiors that stay cool even in warm climates—without relying on energy-intensive air conditioning.

You can check out these interviews on Spotify and YouTube, where I talk about the creative process, the challenges of building in different climates, and how clients are benefiting from the bioclimatic approach.
